It’s safe to assume we all know someone who has been touched by cancer in some way. I have a very dear friend going through treatments right now. Innately my drive is to help people. Over time, I’ve discovered I can only help people that want to be helped.
In the quest to help my friend in ways that I can, making reiki-infused crystal jewelry is something I can do to help her. Bracelets are pretty, fun to receive, and gemstones are pretty dang cool.
Interestingly, crystals have been used for centuries. Things like carvings from mammoth ivory to amulets date back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians used emerald, turquoise, lapis lazuli, clear quartz, and others in their jewelry and life events. Ancient Greeks used crystals for a variety of events. Ancient China highly valued jade.
Crystal healing can be a bit controversial. Generalizing Westerners, when healing is brought up, the thought of hospitals, medications, and traditional clinic facilities is at the forefront of the mind. In reality, there are many forms of healing. Naturally grown plants, herbs, spirit guides, minerals, or ceremonies used to be the only “medicine” and still are in some cultures. Over time this has evolved. Now those are considered new age or alternative techniques.
Some people are drawn to rocks and gems by how they look, others are drawn to one but don’t know why. There are hundreds of books on crystals and crystal healing and many metaphysical shops to take classes at.
Each gemstone has different properties and vibrates at different frequencies that correlate to different parts of the body and different chakras (the seven major energy fields that run through your body). Everything has energy. When the frequencies in your body are higher, you are more in line with your true self.
The chakra system runs through all life and through the human energy system. They are an important part of our being, they are the body’s energy centers through which the life force flows. These are the keys to emotional well-being, physical health, and mental clarity. When one or more of these vortexes get blocked, it sends our energy system off and this has a direct impact on our physical body. Blocks can happen by stress, toxins, trauma, and a number of other things. The seven chakras are root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown.
For specific ailments, there is a crystal to go with that correlates to that chakra point. In alphabetical order, here are my favorites to make jewelry with.
Citrine:
Associated with the solar plexus. Symbolizes individuality and confidence. Brings self-confidence and renewed determination. Helps release depression and fears and induce positive energy, balancing emotions. Beneficial for the nervous system, helps the stomach and digestive system, detoxifying effect and positive influence on metabolism, and strengths the immune system.
Clear Quartz:
Ability to amplify and radiate the energy to achieve goals
Master healer
Promotes balance of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual self
Enhances clarity and intuition
Aids in releasing internalized feelings and emotions
Aids in clearing mental fog
Amplifies energy
Fluorite:
Comes in many colors and is said to contain something of all other gemstones. Folklore says it’s the home of rainbows. The healing properties are vast depending on the colors. Fluorite in “rainbow” is associated with the third eye and crown. Some properties include: gradually removing pain, reduction of stress, emotional balancer, improved physical abilities, reduction in energy blocks, and removing negative energy. Possibilities of boosting and promoting cellular healing.
Hematite:
Associated with the root chakra. Transforms negative energy into positive energy, aligns equilibrium, assists with increasing willpower and confidence, grounding, and brings the body back
A go-to gemstone for
Moonstone:
Associated with the crown, third eye, and heart chakra. Healing properties include, inner growth, new beginnings, strength, stabilizing emotions, providing calmness, awakening feminine energies, and relieving stress.
Rose Quartz:
Associated with the heart chakra. Healing properties are attached to love, compassion, joy, gentle kindness, calming, and patience. Can help heal pain or trauma from emotional situations, and allows the heart to feel comforted to be open to joyful possibilities.
Selenite:
Associated with the crown chakra. Selenite or Satin Spar. A high vibrational gem whose metaphysical properties are the same, the look is different. A go-to gemstone for everything. Cleanses energies of the space, the person, chakras, and other crystals, protection from psychic attacks, releases stagnation, helps calm, enhances mediation, and offers protection.
Tourmaline:
Associated with the root chakra. Black tourmaline is protecting and grounding. (An all-around perfect starter crystal also.) Aids in improving circulation, reduces toxin-related ailments, has a cleansing effect on our organs, tissue, and nervous system, lessens fear, strengthens the immune system, blocks negative energy, EMFs and so much more. This is an unbelievably interesting and powerful stone.
In no way am I saying crystals are the ultimate and only healer. Always seek medical attention when necessary. What I am saying is that if you are drawn to and enjoy crystals, having them or experiencing them in your space might help you get through.
